Description: An illuminated leaf from a medieval bible dating to the Crusader period. The parchment features handwritten text in Latin in two columns, which is decorated further with red and blue pigments.

The leaf itself is exceptionally thin. Its miniature size would have lent itself well to being transported around, perhaps used by a crusader or pilgrim. 1225 AD, the date attributed to the leaf, rests between the Fifth and Sixth Crusades.

Period: France, circa 1225.

Condition: Extremely fine.
