Description: An Elamite steatite vessel of short crescentic form, with a flat base. The rim is decorated with an incised tessellating square pattern. The outer side of the vessel has undulating horizontal bands and ivy leaf motifs; the inner side has a repeated triangle pattern with stepped horizontal lines running through these shapes. Steatite vessels of the 'Intercultural Style' such as this are characterised by decoration of the entire surface with abstract patterns and vegetal and architectural motifs.
