Attic Style

With Attic style we usually refer to the city-state of Athens. Athens was the most important centre for black figure and later red figure pottery decoration due to its ample local resources of clay. The black style pottery style dates back to the 7th century BC, whereas the red style is more recent, dating back to the 5th century BC. Attic style pottery is a vital iconographic resource regarding our understanding of Ancient Greek mythology and daily life.
