Cuneiform Script

One of the earliest forms of writing, cuneiform writing developed in Mesopotamia in the late 4th millennium BC. The Babylonian society had a very complex social structure and hence needed a writing system to record its daily activities such as temple acquisitions, land transactions, financial loans, fiscal records, etc. as well as their history, mythology and personal correspondence. Cuneiform writing was impressed on wet clay tablets that were then left to dry.
