Filigree

Filigree is a very sophisticated jewellery metalwork technique where usually either gold or silver are made into very small spherical beads or twisted threads then soldered together and to a base in a number of motifs. The earliest examples of this technique have been recovered in Mesopotamia and date back to 3000 BC. Later, Etruscans and Greeks extensively employed this technique for the creation of their jewellery and created the finest examples in history.
